THE ART OF MARGIE LESLIE
Margie grew up in Northern Idaho in St. Maries and Moscow. She moved to San Francisco in 1972 and south to San Mateo in 1978 and lived there until moving to Minden in 2002.
Margie started her art career when her children were old enough to stay at home alone so that she could attend classes at the College of San Mateo. She studied with, among others, James Torlakson, a watercolorist who has been shown in several New York galleries, Joe Price, who has created a unique process of hand-pulling prints, and Judith Morley whose expertise is in life drawing. Margie has received numerous awards from various art associates in the area.
Working mainly in watercolor, color pencil, graphite, and scratch art, Margie has also painted with oils and acrylics. When creating her pieces, she likes to artistically express what she sees around her, from bananas to boats to gorillas to frogs to family pets. She has also been commissioned to paint both human and pet and portraits.
