Developing an Early Foundation
As arts-based education programs are being removed from a variety of local school systems and community centers, CVAC is committed to supplementing and enriching students’ education with arts instruction that equips youth with new creative skills, enabling them to discover untapped passions. We believe that by providing easy access to art making tools and creative development resources, we can transform young lives by empowering youth to think critically and express their creativity. We believe that art is an agent of change, and we feel these educational initiatives will help cultivate a new generation of artists who are equally invested in both their creative and social practices.
Who we are…
The CVAC Youth Arts Educational Program is the educational outreach division of the Carson Valley Arts Council. Our programs are available to all public elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and private schools throughout Douglas County, Nevada.
About our programs…
CVAC’s Youth Arts Educational Program is designed to educate, entertain, and enlighten the youth of Douglas County through interactive performing arts presentations. There are two programs that CVAC currently has:
- CVAC brings professional musical performers to local schools in an assembly format.
- New this year is our Artist Residency Program. School programs are set up either in assembly format; or with individual instruction by a professional artist in the classroom. The schools select the performer that they want to provide instruction in their school.
Our programs are supported by grants and therefore there is no charge to the school. In order that we continue to receive grant monies, we are required to evaluate our programs. At the end of the performances or residency, we ask that teachers and staff complete an evaluation form. This form is used as a tool for future programming and for grant funding consideration.
